Comparison

Sales as Code vs Clay

Clay builds the list and enriches it. Sales as Code works the accounts once you have them, across nine roles, on a schedule.

Clay is a data and orchestration platform. Buy from a marketplace of providers, run a waterfall, let an agent research each row, and push the result wherever it goes. People who run it well run it very well, and it is the reference for that job.

It is also a workbench. Somebody has to sit down and build the table, and the value arrives in proportion to the hours they put in. Sales as Code is the opposite shape: nine roles run on a clock whether or not you opened anything, and hand you a ranked line of work in the morning.

The two are not really substitutes. If you already have Clay, the honest read is that we do nothing it does and it does nothing we do past the enrichment cascade.

What Clay does better

  • Sourcing and data breadth. Their marketplace is the category reference and our cascade is four providers deep.
  • Workflow building. A visual builder, functions, and a research agent you can shape per column.
  • Native sequencing at volume, which is a distinct motion from sending one approved message from your own mailbox.

Pick Clay if: Your problem is building and enriching lists, and you have somebody whose job is to sit in the tool.

Capability by capability

Capability Sales as Code Clay
Sourcing and enrichment A four-provider credit-aware cascade with email validation, stopping at the first provider that answers. A data marketplace of many providers, waterfall enrichment, and research agents.
Who does the building Nobody. Nine roles run on a schedule and produce a ranked queue. You do, in a workflow builder.
Note A builder is more powerful and needs an operator. Which of those matters more depends on whether you have one.
Agent access A hosted MCP server, 27 tools, a public OpenAPI spec, one Claude Code plugin per product. MCP, an agent plugin, a CLI and an API.
Roles covered Nine, each with its own skill pack and schedule: founder GTM, AE, sales leader, sales engineer, partner manager, BDR, CRO, customer success, support. One motion, top of funnel.
After the meeting is booked MEDDPICC capture, deal inspection, deal rooms, relationship maps, forecast governance, win and loss synthesis. Not offered.
Manager and executive view Team rollup, coaching scorecard, capacity and bowtie, CAC allocation, a board narrative contract. Not offered.
Customer success and support Customer health, touch tiers, renewal workspace, references, a support product with its own helpdesk. Not offered.
Who presses send A signed-in person, every time. The dispatcher refuses an unapproved draft before any other check, and no cron, agent or automation in the product can do the approving. Sending is off on a new account. Sequences run on a schedule once launched.
Note This is the one difference that is a check in the code rather than a setting. It is also the reason to pick them if you want volume: a gate is a cost as well as a protection.
Price on the page Published. Every role and the all-nine plan, with no demo call. Not published.
Note A claim about their page, not a claim about what they cost. A figure about somebody else’s business does not belong on our storefront, so none appears here.

What it costs here

All nine roles are $99 a month, or $990 a year. Single roles start lower. There is no demo call and no minimum.

Where the claims come from

Every claim about Clay on this page comes from their own public pages, read on the date below. No price, churn rate or other figure is attributed to them anywhere here: those are claims about a business whose books we do not have. If something on this page is out of date, tell us and we will fix the row.
